About our school

Rhunahaorine Primary School and Pre-Five Unit is a non-denominational primary school and Early Learning Centre in West Kintyre serving the village of Tayinloan and the surrounding area.

The school has a current roll of 11 children and the Pre-Five Unit has 5 children.  Our current teaching staff complement consists of: a teaching Head Teacher, a part-time Class Teacher and a temporary full-time class teacher. The teaching staff are supported by a part-time Classroom Assistant and a part time ASN Assistant.

The children in the primary are taught as a multicomposite class, meaning all children from P1-P7 are taught in the same classroom.

We have a strong commitment to Early Years and the importance of play and learning. We make the most of our access to the beach and the land on the estate behind the school for Outdoor Learning and take full advantage of getting our wellies on and getting outside.

We are committed to ensuring our children’s rights are upheld and are currently a UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award – Silver – Rights Aware holder.

We uphold Argyll and Bute Council’s vision – “Our Children, Their Future”, working hard to ensure that the five key priority areas are at the heart of life in our school. https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2025-03/AB_OurChildren_Eng_Accessible.pdf
